Regular Ob Appt. today

I met my new Obstetrician Dr. T. She was recommended by my ole faithful RE who said I had to move on from ....bittersweet but had to be done.

She was very nice and my husband liked her. She went through the regular 1st appt questions and actually was shocked to read I was 42. SHe thought I looked mid 30s, God bless her.

She gave me another ultrasound to measure the progress of the baby and since this was the 1st visit Dave could get to, he was excited to see it. The baby measure two days ahead of schedule at 10 weeks 2 days which puts me right at Valentine's day for an approximate due date. I was so happy and surprised to see the little guy jumping all around and at one point, even kicked his own yoke sac. LOL

I will scan some pics as soon as I find it...moving has turned my life upside down to say the least.

The other news the Dr. discussed and something I have to put alot of thought into...getting an amniocentises or a CVS. An amnio as many of you know is where they stick a needle through your abdomen without anesthesia and take out some amniotic fluid for sampling. The test usually takes two weeks to get reults (performed at 17-20 weeks) and it tells you if the chromosomes look normal or at a risk for neural tube defect, Downs or any other abnormalities.Over 35 the risks increase so you can imagine what the risk would be at 42. She went over them with me (miscarriage, infection, etc) and the percentage of an "oops I poked the baby" are so small it's like one in 1000 for some of these drs that perform it. The other test is called a CVS. It is where they essentially do the same thing but they are taking a needle and extracting blood from the umbilical cord. This test is usually more high risk (not as many perform is as with amnio) and it's usually done between 9-13 weeks. The risk for miscarriage is much higher than with amnio (not sure why) and it's equally painful.

So, thats it. I have alot to think about and not alot of time to do it since CVS has to be scheduled NOW. I am leaning towards amnio and Dave feels a little more comfortable with it than with the CVS.

Any thoughts?

Dr. Appt

Lately I've been feeling paranoid. I don't know why but I had a feeling like maybe the pregnancy symptoms were caused by the progesterone and not from being pregnant. I am such a pessimist. I hardly slept thinking somthing could be wrong. Anyway, I had an appt scheduled for Thursday but I knew I'd go insane if I waited so I went today.

Me : "Hi Dr, I'm nervous today so no small talk, just get right up in there"
Dr : "Ok Ally, Got it"

Baby is great. Measured right on track at 8 weeks 3 days, HB at 160 bpm. All is well.

He released me from his practice and over to the regular OB/GYN for my next appt which is in 2 weeks.

Wow, is this really happening???? Can I possibly relax soon and enjoy? I'll give it 4 more weeks ... so positive thoughts everyone :)

Hi everyone! and yes....Preggo AGAIN!

I am finally here, back in Houston and I absolutely love my new home. It is alot larger than the last one so that's an adjustment...especially when the movers put the boxes in the wrong rooms. LOL. Oh well, I guess it could be worse, everything could have been broken.

I am about 50% unpacked and things are starting to take shape. It's actually weird to see my husband every night, home for dinner, not that I'm complaining...it's just nice for everyone to be in the same house.

So, I have some news that I've only shared with a chosen few. Yes, I am pregnant again. I am not screaming it from the rooftops but so far things look really good. Yes, I conceived naturally and by some miracle I ovulated on a weekend when my husband was home. Preliminary blood work came back with very high scores...721, 2832 for HCG and 14 and 32 for progesterone. I was holding my breath when I went in for the U/S. I could see my little bean and even heard his/her heartbeat of 131 bpm. So for now, I'm excited, nauseous, tired and cautious. I am 8 weeks so 4 more weeks with my RE and then it's off to a regular OB/GYN.

So, hows that for a little turn in my luck??
