Poked and Gagged

Yesterday was my 1st session with acupuncture. Before I went in, he went over what he is trying to accomplish based on his findings for me. I have three deficiencies. One is a Liver deficiency which I will list the symptoms for...most of them I have. 2nd is a Kidney Yang defiency...that one is interesting because it lists infertility as a symptom. Third is Spleen Defiency. All the symptoms in bold is what I have.

Anyway, back to my appt. I am a little nervous but he assures me that I won't feel the needles. He placed them in my lower back and in my lower legs. It didn't hurt going in but when I moved my toes I could feel one which shot a jolt up my leg...and NO, it didn't feel good. So, I layed perfectly still on my belly for 20 minutes until the time was up. I didn't expect what would happen next. When I got up I couldn't see! I was so dizzy I needed to sit down. I felt like Pig Pen because I had a cloud on top of my head. He tried to get me to read this herb bottle and I couldn't see the letters. Very weird but he said it was completely normal. NOT TO ME! After about 5 minutes I was ok and left...but damn, that was wierd. All the blood felt like it left my head and it did. According to him, the blood was moving to the places he put the needles so it kind of put my system in a temporary shock. I don't have enough blood traveling in my system and he got it moving again...WOAH, this shit is powerful. He also gave me this herbal tincture which I have to take 3X a day...tastes like poison and makes me gag but it's supposed to help my liver as well.

So, that's it. I will be going to him 2X a week until my IVF. I hope it's a little better next time.

Acupuncture

Yesterday was my acupuncture appt. He explained what it entails and asked me a million questions about my infertility. He asked me how many miscarriages I had and I almost lost it. He went through the basic techniques, inspected my tongue(YES tongue) because says it holds the key to what could be the problem. He also took my pulse on both wrists.

This is what he came up with...

I have a liver defiency which in laymen's terms means I don't have enough blood circulating in my body. I knew he was right on with that one. I have anemia, am always cold and pale and dry brittle nails. He also said my spleen is deficient. I know what you are thinking. This guy can look at a person's tongue and get all that??? That's what I thought too...but the way he explained it...made perfect sense. At this rate, I have to try everything right??

So, this is the plan. I'm going to start acupuncture next week. I'm also going to do chinese herbs.I will do this weekly until my IVF in January. I will do to my RE next month for my ovarian reserve test and if that comes back well, then we proceed with everything. Oh, and did I mention...my insurance covers IVF! Holy crap. I didn't know that! It only covers a maximum of $10,000 so I have 1 shot to get this right! Now you know why I'm doing the acupuncture...I have to get all of my organs, my hormones and my eggs in perfect alignment for the IVF.

I know it's alot to chew on...plus with a full time job, a hubby and 2 kids but I can do it. If nothing else, the acupuncture will destress me (I hope) and get me calm for what's been happening and what's set to happen.

Wish me luck.

It's been a while

For the few people that come to this blog...I'm sorry it's taking me so long to update. Alot has been going on but I'll give you the Cliff notes..

1. Work has kept me busy. Long hours and going back to a full time job has it's challenges. I really love it most of the time.

2. I recently suffered another miscarriage. Seems I get pregnant every Sept (at least for the last 2 years) and m/c shortly thereafter. Physically I am fine, emotionally..well I can do the "why me?" and the "why does this keep happening to me?" but it seems pointless and only God knows the answer.

3. Hubby and I decided to do IVF.We've had many discussions on where to go from here. Do we stop and just accept it?? I knew I wasn't ready to do that but I needed hubby to be on board. I really don't have the time to sit around and "hope" that this will be something that will happen naturally. My track record just plain sucks for that. 4 IUI's failed (one ending in twins m/c) and 3 others. So, we decided on
a round of IVF.

I will be going in to my RE next month to test my ovarian reserve and doing a saline sonogram (sort of like a carwash for my uterus) and then onto BC pills to quiet things down for the IVF.
I'm also going to be starting acupunture/TCM therapy. MY RE thinks it can help boost my egg quality along with my hormones and cycles.
Check out the website. http://www.austinfertilitysolution.com/
I go next week for my evaluation.

I guess it wasn't the Cliff notes after all. LOL

Thanks to all the ladies that just email me/IM to see how I'm doing. I couldn't get through this without you.
